Charging the Nissan Leaf is easy

Explore hassle-free charging at home or on the go, at over 800 charge stations nationwide.

At Home

The Nissan LEAF can be plugged into any standard 240V electrical socket. With a Type 2 charging unit installed, the LEAF 40kW can reach full charge in 7.5 hours#, so you can charge overnight and start the day with a full 270km of range‡.

On the Go

From regional highways to major shopping centres and office buildings, there are over 800 public charging stations across Australia. Many public charging stations offer CHAdeMO charging, a fast charging system that charges the LEAF 40kW’s battery from 20% to 80% in just 60 minutes**.

#This Home Charging time is based on, and requires use of a 32A / 6.6kW (7kW) wall box. Home Charging time will be dependent on charging conditions, including Home  Charging type and condition, battery temperature and size as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Home Charging time is for a 40kW battery, and is based on Nissan testing. Before using this product at home, consult with a licenced electrician to ensure your homes electrical system can support the use.

315km range tested to Australian NEDC ADR81/02 standard. 270km indicative driving range using the new WLTP test procedure for the European spec model. Note Australian model has not been tested using WLTP test procedure. Figures obtained after the battery was fully charged. Figures stated for the purposes of comparison amongst vehicles tested to the same technical procedures only. Actual real world driving range may vary depending on factors such as battery age and condition, driving style, use of heating/cooling, traffic conditions, weather conditions, any accessories fitted and vehicle load.

**Figures quoted are for a 40kWh battery. Time dependent on charging conditions, including charger type and condition, battery temperature as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Indicated rapid charging time requires use of a CHAdeMO rapid charger. The Nissan LEAF is designed to support the majority of journeys in daily life and is equipped with charging safeguards to protect the battery during repeated rapid charging sessions in a short period of time. The time taken for successive rapid charging can take longer if the battery temperature activates the battery safeguarding technology.

^Estimated savings is based on assumptions of a fuel economy of 10.8 litres per 100 kilometres for a comparable petrol car. Kilometres driven, electricity costs, and petrol costs used to calculate savings are based upon either the average power and fuel costs selected, or custom costs input. This is an estimate only and actual savings will vary depending on each customer’s individual circumstances.

ECO Mode

Maximise Your Range

Get the most out of every charge with ECO Mode and B Mode regenerative braking.

How to get more range from every charge?

Speed, driving style, topography and weather conditions can affect battery performance. More speed uses more energy, so the faster you drive the more often you’ll have to charge. To maximise your range, try to keep your driving smooth and steady. Increase the time between charges with ECO Mode or B mode regenerative braking.

B Mode: Recover Braking Energy

Serious about maxing out your range? Activate B Mode. It delivers more regenerative braking, which charges the battery without compromising on driving power.

ECO Mode

Choose ECO Mode to limit engine output and save energy. It slightly increases regenerative braking to boost your range, too. To get the most mileage out of your Nissan LEAF, use B mode and ECO mode at the same time.

e-PEDAL##

START AND STOP, SIMPLY.

Accelerate, brake and stop all in one pedal. By simply releasing the accelerator, the LEAF will come to a complete stop even on an incline and a decline.

RIDE CONTROL

NO BUMPS

Enjoy a smoother journey. Our system automatically applies brakes and adjusts engine torque to better balance your ride.

TRACE CONTROL

HUG THE ROAD

Handle corners like never before with individual wheel braking that helps you turn smoothly.

Intelligent Cruise Control

Maintain a safe, adaptable speed with cruise control that responds to vehicles around you

Emergency braking

If the unexpected happens, emergency brakes will be applied to prevent or minimise an accident.

Lane-Departure Warning‡‡

This system gives you a visual and audible alert if it detects you're straying from your lane. And it’s so smart, it’s designed to stop the alerts when you engage your turn signal.

‡‡Lane-departure prevention systems operate only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road. Speed limitations apply. The system is a driver’s aid only and should not be used as a substitute for safe driving practices. Always monitor your surroundings when driving.

Single-Pedal Driving

Accelerate, brake and stop—all with one pedal. With the LEAF’s e-Pedal##, just press down for an instant rush, and ease off to slow down. It’s a whole new way to drive that’s not only fun, but efficient. It can even add power back into the battery to help extend its range. Of course, your brake pedal is always there if you prefer to use it, or simply flip a switch to remain on regular two-pedal driving.

##The e-pedal may not be suitable under all driving conditions, correct operation is the responsibility of the driver. See Owner’s Manual for details.
